working electrode in an electrochemical cell,
having one dimension in the nanometric range, usually lower than 500 nm.
Operational definition: A nanoelectrode
is any electrode whose characteristic dimension is, under the given
experimental conditions, comparable to or smaller than the diffusion layer
thickness. Under these conditions, a current steady state
or a pseudo-steady state
is attained.
