Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy

 

Microscopic technique that can provide information on both the topography and reactivity of a surface or an interface (liquid/solid, liquid/liquid, and liquid/gas), with a resolution governed by the dimensions of the electrochemical tip. The SECM tip is a submicronic-size electrochemical probe, and the tip signal is a faradaic current generated by the electrolysis of the solution species.
