Josephson-Effect

 

A current runs between two superconductors which are separated by a thin insulating film (Josephson junction). The current is called supercurrent (superconducting current). Josephson junctions are used in voltage standards, as microwave detectors and as ultrasensitive magnetometers (SQUID).
